Super Bowl X-Factors: Terrance Knighton and Max Unger
By Joe Caporoso on Tuesday, January 28 2014

We are currently ranking the top 50 players in the Super Bowl here at The Whistle. After each segment of 10 players, we'll highlight one player from each team who could be an X-factor in the big game.

Terrance Knighton - Defensive Tackle - Denver Broncos

Season stats: 31 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 interception.

Postseason stats: 7 tackles, 1 sack.

Postseason playing time: 44% of the defensive snaps in the AFC Championship Game. 63% of the defensive snaps in the AFC Divisional Round.

Why he could be an X-factor: Knighton is the key cog in Denver's run defense. Seattle's offense is driven by Marshawn Lynch. The Broncos are going to need Knighton, nicknamed "Pot Roast," to get a good push up front to slow down Lynch. Denver's run defense has been dominant this postseason, but Lynch will provide the biggest challenge they've seen yet.

Max Unger - Center - Seattle Seahawks

Season stats: 16 starts. NFC Pro Bowl Center.

Postseason playing time: 100% of the offensive snaps in the NFC Championship Game. 100% of the offensive snaps in the NFC Divisional Round.

Why he could be an X-factor: Unger is Seattle's best offensive lineman and paves the path for Lynch. Remember Pot Roast Knighton from the previous slide? It will be up to Unger to block him up and create space for Seattle's rushing attack.
